We are open seasonally from 1 June to Labour Day,
seven days a week, from 9:00am-5:00pm.

Tour Bus Groups: $5 per person (must book in advance)

The George Johnston Museum is in the heart of the Village of Teslin, Yukon, easily accessible from the Alaska Highway.

  • Photography is welcome, but please avoid using flash to protect delicate artefacts.
  • Food and beverages are not permitted inside exhibit areas.
  • Please be respectful of all exhibits and displays to help preserve them for future generations.

Self-Guided Tour Tips

If you have limited time or want a themed visit, try one of these suggested paths:
  • 30-Minute Highlights
    • View the “Life in Teslin” photo books in the foyer.
    • In the main gallery (enter through the gift shop and turn immediately right), read the clan system and marital protocols as well as the history of how the Teslin Tlingit got to Teslin.
    • Watch part of Picturing a People in the theatre.
    • Tour the Four-Seasons Gallery.
  • Kid-Friendly Path
    • Look for animal pelts and taxidermy. Open all the drawers in the curios cabinet to the left of the hallway before the washroom.
    • Visit the green space for fresh air and family photos.
    • Ask about the scavenger hunt at the front desk.
